Intra-EU trade in fishery products bound for Spain: Possible traffic control measures for illegal fishery products

“Intra-EU trade in fishery products bound for Spain: Possible traffic control measures for illegal fishery products” is about the existing control measures available to Spanish competent authorities to tackle the risk of IUU fishing products entering the Spanish market through intra-EU imports.

It concludes that in general, there are not many intra-EU trade control measures for fishery products, particularly those fully obtained or produced in a Member State. However, we have been able to identify certain control measures and to make some recommendations: increasing the number of random sample checks on fishery products and ensuring, in relation to the  fishery products under a “transit procedure”, that similar checks to those established for ordinary imports continue to be applied.
