Do you have a donor privacy policy? 

We take the privacy of our supporters very seriously and we are GDPR compliant. Please see our privacy policy for more details on how we manage your data.

How do I contact ClientEarth?

For general enquiries, please email info@clientearth.org. For fundraising enquiries, please email supportus@clientearth.org.

Alternatively, visit our offices page to find the contact details for a specific office.

Do you have any volunteer opportunities or internships?

Due to the nature of our work, we currently do not offer voluntary opportunities but do occasionally have internship opportunities. These will always be advertised on our careers page.

You can also create a vacancy alert and receive an email every time we post an opportunity that matches your search criteria.

I’d like ClientEarth to take on a project or legal action. 

ClientEarth is a public interest law organisation, funded as a charity. Our finite resources, limits set by charity law, laws on access to the courts and laws on what kind of advice we are allowed to provide mean it is not possible for us to engage with campaigns brought to us by the public.

Donating in the UK

Is my donation tax deductible?

Your donation qualifies for Gift Aid if you pay tax in the UK, and have signed the Gift Aid declaration. Every £1 that you donate with Gift Aid is worth £1.25 to ClientEarth at no extra cost to you. We can also offer tax receipts on request. You can read more on the Gov.uk website.

Will I get a receipt?

Yes, we can post a receipt on request, just email our Supporter Care Team supportus@clientearth.org. Alternatively, if you donate online, your gift details will be sent via email as soon as you complete your transaction.

Can I donate by post or over the phone?

Yes, please post your cheque, postal order or CAF cheque to:

How do I change my monthly giving information? 

Please navigate to the Supporter Hub for UK/EU supporters.

  1. Enter your email. You will be sent a sign-in link to the email. Click the link in the email to open the Supporter Hub.
  2. Navigate to the option that says "Update regular gift." Or “Reactive recurring gift”
  3. Update your card details and make sure to click Save.

Alternatively, please contact us at supportus@clientearth.org and we’ll be happy to make changes for you.

For adjustments to your Direct Debit gift, please contact community@clientearth.org

How can I leave a legacy?

Legacy gifts are a crucial way of supporting our work. Adding ClientEarth to your will costs nothing now but could transform our work in the future.

Is my donation tax deductible?

ClientEarth North America is a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Federal tax ID number: 81-0722756. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Will I get a receipt?

If you made your gift online, your gift receipt will be sent automatically via email as soon the transaction is completed. If you donated over $250 via check and your name and address is included with your gift, your donation receipt will be sent to your address. We can also create a receipt on request, please email info.us@clientearth.org

What other ways can I give?

How can I leave a planned gift?

A planned gift is one of the most high-impact gifts you can make. Add ClientEarth to a will or living trust, or include us as a beneficiary for IRAs or life insurance. The process is simple and just requires the following:

Match campaigns

Find out more about our match campaigns and how they work.

What is a match funded-campaign?

A match-funded campaign is an opportunity for you to increase your impact on specific appeals. During a match campaign, every donation you give is doubled, so a £1/$1 donation becomes £2/$2, and a £100/$100 donation becomes £200/$200. All donations will be matched until the match-giving fund we have allocated for a campaign is exhausted. Any donations received after the allocated match campaign will not be matched.

The maximum donation amount from any individual for this campaign is £10,000 or $10,000. Generous donations higher than this may be accepted at our discretion. Please contact us first if you are considering a gift of this nature.

If we exceed our specified match appeal target, we reserve the right to continue matching donations. We will update our donation page as soon as possible after we stop matching donations. All donations received after this point will still be gratefully received and contribute towards our crucial work.

Where does the match money come from?

It depends on the campaign, but most ClientEarth match campaigns are made possible with the help of our generous major donors. Our Philanthropy team works with a number of highly committed individuals who are passionate about making a difference for the planet.

Do you accept company match donations?

Yes! You can make your gift for the planet go even further by asking your human resources department if your employer is set up to match donations to ClientEarth. A matching gift is a donation by a corporation that matches an employee's donation to an eligible nonprofit. Many employers hold workplace giving campaigns by matching gifts made via payroll deduction or credit card.
