The Environmental Assessment Regulations set out procedures and criteria for the drafting, submittal, review and approval of environmental impact assessments and the application and granting of environmental permits. Any activities that may have an impact on the environment (specified in Schedule 1 and 2) must be registered with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Agency must approve an environmental permit before the commencement of the activity.
The Regulations also require the submittal of an annual environment report by holders of a permit and a periodical environmental management plan by person a responsible for an undertaking in respect of which a preliminary environmental report or an environmental impact statement has been approved.
