ClientEarth’s response to the Commission’s ‘Communication concerning a consultation on fishing opportunities for 2017’ calls on the Commission to propose fishing opportunities in line with the requirements and objectives of the CFP, in order to restore and maintain fish populations above biomass levels capable of producing the maximum sustainable yield (MSY).
The response notes a number of improvements in this year’s communication compared to last year, draws attention to remaining shortcomings and makes specific recommendations to address these in future communications.
