Simon Holmes is an experienced EU, competition  and regulatory lawyer with over 35 years' experience in the area. He has worked in a number of law firms and was head of King & Wood Mallesons’ global competition practice until his retirement from private practice last year.

He has a long interest in environmental issues and for over 10 years worked for the Waste and Resources Action Programme (“WRAP”) helping them improve the rate and quality of recycling in the UK. In particular, he obtained state aid clearances from the European Commission for WRAP’s recycling schemes and major recycling projects.

In addition to his advisory work for ClientEarth, Simon is a judge at the UK’s Competition Appeals Tribunal and is teaching competition law at Oxford University as part of its graduate programme. He writes and speaks regularly on competition law, climate change and environmental sustainability and recently co-edited Concurrence’s new book on this subject.
