Reforming the Framework for Better Regulation – Government Consultation

In this consultation response, ClientEarth sets out its concerns over the proposals contained within the Government’s Reforming the Framework for Better Regulation consultation document, as informed by the May 2021 Taskforce on Innovation, Growth and Regulatory Reform. It is concerned it could lead to a deregulatory initiative to reduce public interest protections, including in respect of the environment, in favour of promoting harmful market activities. It states that ClientEarth supports increased regulator accountability in addition to retaining and improving upon a strong regulatory framework that is clear and prescriptive.
