It reveals that key concerns regarding both procedural and substantive aspects have not been addressed. The agreement, while incorporating some cosmetic changes, actually maintains the old-style investment protection standards and investor-to-state dispute settlement mechanism. EUSIPA thus fails to safeguard human rights, democracy and the rule of law, both in Europe and Singapore.
