Joint open letter to the European Commission calling on the safeguard of CAP conditionality in 2023

Together with several European and national civil society organisations, ClientEarth joins WWF-European Policy Office's call to prevent environmental rules in the Common Agricultural Policy from being further weakened, and delaying the transition to a fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food system. The Commission is considering making exceptions for environmental rules concerning crop rotation and non-productive areas or features that protect soils and biodiversity on arable land. However, these areas play an important role in pest control, crop pollination and increased farm resilience, which can lead to better economic performance and input self-sufficiency.
