ClientEarth responds to UK Consultation on Environmental Targets

Clear, comprehensive and ambitious targets are essential to drive the action and investment that is urgently needed to reverse environmental decline in England over the coming decades. While the proposed targets address many of the key environmental issues we are facing, the majority of the targets need to be much more ambitious if they are to have a significant impact on improving and protecting the environment. Without higher ambition in the scope and detail of the targets, the
government will be unable to meet the goals set out in its 25 Year Environment Plan (“25 YEP”) and the environmental commitments it has made on an international level.
