ClientEarth and Seas At Risk letter to the European Commission regarding outstanding concerns about landing obligation exemption requests for the 2019 demersal discard plans for the North Sea and the North Western Waters.
In this letter and its Annexes we outline remaining issues raised by the evaluation of the exemption requests put forward by the regional Member State groups in the discard plan joint recommendations conducted by the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries in June 2018. We also provide recommendations for how these issues should be addressed, and present further details in Annexes II and III on the missing information to be submitted and conditions to be met before adoption of specific exemption requests.
