Act – 2009 – Act to Establish the Land Commission

Established in 2009, the Land Commission (LC) is an independent body of the Government. It is financially autonomous, operationally independent and generally free in the pursuit of its mandate. However, the LC is required to submit an annual financial report of its expenditure activities to the President of Liberia. The LC is mandated to propose, advocate and coordinate reforms of land policy, laws and programs in Liberia. It should be noted that the LC has no adjudicatory or implementation role.
