Focus

Paula Ciré joined the Berlin office in January 2022 as a lawyer. She specialises in water and environmental law. Her focus is on litigating against fossil fuel infrastructure in Germany in order to replace coal and gas in the energy mix with renewable energy sources.

Experience

Before joining ClientEarth, Paula worked for the German Federal Ministry for the Environment in the unit for international law.

During her legal traineeship, she was trained in the energy team of a German law firm, the German NGO Society for Liberty Rights and ClientEarth’s Berlin office. Previously, she did a traineeship in the EU delegation to the OECD in Paris. She has volunteered for a Law Clinic and more recently for Lawyers for Future Germany.

Education

Paula is a fully qualified German lawyer. She studied law in Hamburg and Cape Town and completed her second state examination at the Berlin Superior Court of Justice.
