Paloma Colmenarejo joined ClientEarth in November 2017 as Spanish Sustainable Seafood Project Coordinator.

Paloma has many years of experience in developing and implementing campaigning strategies and fishing process improvements. She has been working to promote healthy oceans with fishers, retailers, consumers and local communities, administrations, scientists and NGOs. Before joining ClientEarth, she was the Team Project Coordinator for the design and the creation of a co-managed Marine Protected Areas with Lonxanet Foundation.

Before this, she was part of the Greenpeace Seafood Market campaign in Spain, working with retailers to improve sustainability and push businesses to have a sustainable seafood purchasing policy. She has also witnessed at sea how the fishing fleets work, and has been able to witness first-hand the need for transparency and traceability in this field.

In recent years, she launched an online sales company of 100% Galician and artisanal seafood company, whose objective was to provide customers with fully traceable and sustainable seafood.

Joining ClientEarth will keep me working for a better world, where big and small boats fish in a sustainable way, retailers sell sustainable seafood and consumers contribute to a better world through better buying decisions. We are a multidisciplinary team. This is the ideal way to work together on seafood sustainability in the supply chain, as there are some loopholes and grey areas in the implementation of laws at European, Spanish and regional level which are necessary to handle.
