As senior communications officer in the Berlin office, Johanna handles all communications regarding ClientEarth’s legal work in Germany, as well as supporting the European and global Communications and Policy team in their campaigns and projects.

Before joining ClientEarth, Johanna worked as the press officer of a German federal parliamentarian, focusing on Social and Labour law. She gained prior experience in NGO communications in her time at a Berlin tech policy thinktank where she was responsible for content and publications.

Johanna received a B.A. in History, Anglophone Studies and Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Marburg and a M.A. in Global History from the University of Heidelberg, where she focused on the History of Medicine.

My motivation for working at ClientEarth can be summarized by the German quote "Es gibt nichts gutes, außer man tut es” - if you want something good to happen, you should not simply wait for it, but work on it.
