Lawyer, Protected Wildlife & Habitats
Francesco joined ClientEarth in April 2021 as a Marine Habitats Lawyer in the Wildlife and Habitats Programme. Based in the Madrid Office, his work focuses on marine conservation issues, using the law to achieve meaningful and effective protection of Marine Protected Areas and, in general, of marine wildlife and habitats in European waters.
Before joining ClientEarth, Francesco worked as an Environmental Lawyer in a leading Italian law firm. There, Francesco provided assistance on issues related to the impact and emissions to the environment of industrial facilities.
Francesco is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student in Comparative and International Environmental Law at the Maastricht University, where he is developing a research project focused on how marine pollution of onshore origin is addressed in the European regional context.
In 2016, Francesco graduated in summa cum laude from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, which continues to collaborate with as Teaching Assistant in Public International Law. In 2019, he qualified as a lawyer before the Court of Appeal of Milan.
It is the duty of organisations like ClientEarth to restore, through the power of law, the primordial pact between humans and Nature, today compromised by over-exploitation and uncontrolled use of natural resources. I could not be prouder to devote my experience to this cause and, alongside inspiring colleagues, to give a voice to habitats and wildlife.
