Focus

Catherine joined ClientEarth’s State aid team in November 2021. Her work focusses on aligning the EU State aid rules, as well as the EU competition law rules, with the EU Green Deal and the climate goals.

Experience

Before joining ClientEarth, Catherine was a competition lawyer at the international law firm DLA Piper in Brussels where she worked on merger control, antitrust, cartel and State aid matters in a wide range of industries. She also previously trained at the Court of Justice of the European Union, at the European Commission (DG Competition) and in two American law firms specialised in competition law based in Brussels.

Education

Catherine qualified as a lawyer at the Brussels bar in 2015. She holds a Master of Laws from Université Catholique de Louvain and an LL.M. in Competition law from King’s College London.

While environmental threats and impacts of global climate change are growing, I felt an urgent call to use my legal skills for a higher purpose. Working at ClientEarth enables me to use my legal expertise for the protection of the environment, together with brilliant and committed colleagues.
