Focus

Arthur focuses on the fight against illegal and unsustainable fisheries. In this regard, he engages in advocacy and strategic litigation on the internal and external dimensions of the EU Common Fisheries Policy. Arthur notably works on the enforcement and the control of the EU fisheries rules, and on finding new innovative ways to bring fisheries cases before EU courts.

Experience

Prior to joining ClientEarth in 2021, Arthur has worked as a Trainee in DG Environment of the European Commission. Afterwards, he joined the cabinet of the Belgian Minister of Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development, as strategic advisor on the EU Green Deal.

Education

Arthur holds a Bachelor in Law and a Master in European Law from the Free University of Brussels. He also completed a LL.M in Transnational and Environmental Law at King’s College London. During his legal studies, Arthur completed a six month exchange programme at the University of Montreal.

The law is a powerful tool to help shape sustainable societies. Using the power of the law at a transnational level to protect our oceans is fundamental as healthy seas are the keystone for climate regulation and biodiversity preservation.
