Amalia joined our Brussels office in March 2022. She provides legal support and capacity strengthening for the development and implementation of sustainable forest management processes in Southeast Asia. She works to increase engagements between CSOs, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) and governments, with the hope to help IPLCs achieve their rights and sustainable livelihoods, as well as to protect natural ecosystems and biodiversity.

Experience

Before joining ClientEarth, Amalia worked as policy and advocacy officer in Docip (EU office), an NGO which supports Indigenous Peoples in advocating for their human rights at both EU and UN level. Prior to that experience, she worked as an external consultant for the European Commission (DG INTPA) on Indigenous People’s rights and as a research assistant at the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Brussels.

Education

She holds a Bachelor and Master in Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and a European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratization from EIUC.

Working at the intersection of Human Rights and Environmental law is crucial to ensure IPLC’s rights and sustainable livelihoods, strengthen forest governance and protect forest, natural ecosystems and biodiversity.
