Protet is a forestry engineer and the executive director of the Cabinet ESSONO ONDO for Social and Environmental Affairs (CEO-SE), an NGO he created in 2019. He has been working with ClientEarth as In-Country Associate in Gabon since June 2021 supporting civil society organisation in the Legal Working Group.

Previous to working with ClientEarth, Protet earned a specialisation in rural development in 2004 at the University of Bobo-Dioulassa (Burkina Faso). He went on to develop a rich experience in natural resources management, support to civil society and community organisations.

After working for Rougier Gabon (CFAD of Ogooué-Ivindo) in 2005-2006, he joined the Gabonese NGO Brainforest as project manager in 2007 and then programme coordinator from 2009 to 2017, as well as coordinator of the Gabonese civil society platform "Gabon Ma Terre Mon Droit (GMTMD)" (from 2011-2018). This made him acquire a good experience in sustainable forest management, forest certification and especially in social forestry and the promotion of forest communities' rights.
