As Chief Strategy and People Officer (CSPO), Cheryl leads ClientEarth’s strategic alignment, organisational excellence, and people and culture functions.

Reporting directly to the CEO, her leadership focuses on designing and delivering initiatives that enhance organisational effectiveness and ensure strategic coherence across people, operations, external affairs, and programmatic delivery - advancing ClientEarth’s global mission.

Cheryl plays a pivotal role in managing change and fostering a positive and inclusive culture, to ensure that ClientEarth remains agile, innovative, and impactful.

Her remit includes strategy and planning, organisational performance and design, workforce strategy, and internal communications.

Experience

Cheryl joined ClientEarth from the UK Cabinet Office, where she worked on Government Communication professional standards and major programmes including Covid Communications, UK GREAT Campaign, and the Leadership College for Government. On secondment from the Cabinet Office she led the creation of a new operating model for the House of Commons’ HR function. Prior to this, Cheryl has worked in and led HR, Policy, Communications and Operations, for over 30 years in a variety of organisations including Local Authorities, Charity, NGO, and Higher Education sectors. With a background in occupational and organisational psychology, she specialises in organisational development and effectiveness, change and business improvement.

Education

Cheryl has a BSc. in Psychology from the University of London and an MSc. in Occupational and Organisational Psychology from the University of East London. She has also completed the Civil Service Senior Leadership Scheme (SLS) at Hult Ashridge and is a Chartered Fellow with CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development.
