Christies auction of Cecily Brown’s There’ll Be Bluebirds – Artists For ClientEarth

James Thornton, ClientEarth CEO said: ”We are both honoured and heartened by this generous gift.

“At ClientEarth, we believe art can truly flourish only when people and nature are protected – and that climate change threatens it, as it does all aspects of a thriving culture.

“But we also know the art world can lead the fight back. Communicating the urgency of tackling climate change and nature loss has never been more important than right now. Art and artists have extraordinary potential to push boundaries and to lead society in imagining a better future for us all.

“Cecily Brown’s gift is an enormously generous reflection of that that potential. We thank her, as well as to the Gallery Climate Coalition and Christies for organising the Artists for ClientEarth auction series. Donations big and small are what enable us to use the law to create radical change that protects our shared planet.”

About ClientEarth

ClientEarth is a non-profit organisation that uses the law to create systemic change that protects the Earth for – and with – its inhabitants. We are tackling climate change, protecting nature and stopping pollution, with partners and citizens around the globe. We hold industry and governments to account, and defend everyone’s right to a healthy world. From our offices in Europe, Asia and the USA we shape, implement and enforce the law, to build a future for our planet in which people and nature can thrive together.
