With a Master's degree in international law from Brazil and an LL.M in international environmental law from South Africa, Clemence began her career in a law firm in Brazil.
She then worked as a consultant for an American firm on a project to create a transborder protected areas in Kenya and Tanzania, as well as on issues related to illegal wildlife trafficking.
She also collaborates with Lawyers Without Borders on issues relating to Indigenous Peoples' rights and environmental law. Since 2023, Clemence has been working in Gabon on protected and conserved areas, human-wildlife conflicts and the fight against illegal animal trafficking. She is a member of the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) for Central Africa.
