It's time to demand stronger laws to protect our water

Filthy beaches. Polluted rivers. Vanishing wildlife.

Polluting water companies have pushed our rivers and seas into crisis, enabled by years of weak oversight and political inaction.

As UK Parliament prepares to debate the Water Reform Bill, we have a rare chance to fix a broken system so it works for people and nature.

Take action

Clean rivers, lakes and seas affect people’s quality of life, their health and their livelihoods.

Yet pollution and regulatory failure have turned clean water into a privilege, with only 14% of rivers in England meeting good ecological standards.

Years of weak regulation and political inaction have allowed sewage, chemicals, and agricultural runoff to flood our waterways.

What should be a national treasure has become a national emergency. It harms wildlife, damages communities, and erodes public trust.

But change is within reach.

Public demand for clean rivers and safe bathing waters has never been stronger. Join the campaign for Clean Water Now.

Our asks

  1. Stop the polluters

Clamp down on sewage, intensive agricultural and chemical pollution.

  2. Fix the broken system

Stop water companies putting profit before people and nature, with proper oversight and local communities involved.

  3. Restore nature

Bring rivers, lakes and seas back to life with healthier habitats, cleaner water, and safe access for people

The Water Reform Bill must tackle the urgent crises of forever chemicals and toxic sludge which plague our rivers, and rein in the expansion of industrial megafarms putting people's health at risk.
