As a member of the Energy Systems, Asia, Raphaël Soffer collaborates with civil society, regulators, and the private sector to facilitate the transition to a net-zero economy. Through engagement with institutional investors and high-emitting companies, Raphael focuses on strengthening corporate climate accountability standards and the recognition of climate risks. He also assists organisations aiming at speeding up the coal-to-clean transition in the Asia-Pacific region.

Raphaël Soffer joined ClientEarth in November 2018 and currently works from our Tokyo office.

Experience

Before joining ClientEarth, Raphaël worked as a lawyer for King & Wood Mallesons and Orrick Herrington Sutcliffe, focusing on the development of energy and infrastructure projects in developing countries. He also practised law at Winkler Partners in Taiwan.

Education

Raphaël was admitted as a member of the New York Bar in 2009 and the Paris Bar in 2011. He majored in International and European Law at the University of Paris 10 – Nanterre and obtained an LL.M. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. Raphaël also studied law at the National University of Taiwan. Raphael speaks French, English and Mandarin.
