Ugo manages legal teams and oversees ClientEarth's portfolio, focusing on developing legal strategies to change food systems and strengthen the protection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, with a regional focus on actions in Europe, aiming to achieve impact both in Europe and globally.
Ugo joined ClientEarth in 2014 and is based in our Brussels office. Before joining ClientEarth, he was a lawyer with the Italian law firm SLCG in Florence and Milan (Italy). He is a qualified lawyer in Italy.
Ugo has more than a decade of expertise in leading strategic litigation and advocacy. He has been involved in litigation cases in the UK and 12 different EU member states, as well as countries outside of Europe. Ugo has achieved precedent-setting wins before the Court of Justice of the EU, the European Court of Human Rights and top courts across many European jurisdictions.
Ugo graduated with first class honours in both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies. He holds a degree in law from the University of Florence (Italy) and a degree in environmental law and policy from the University College London (LLM). He was awarded the Francis Taylor Building Prize for Environmental Law 2014.
