This event brings together regulators, institutional investors and leading legal and sustainability experts to discuss corporate engagement strategies for the net zero transition in Asia, exploring various tools and approaches that can be deployed in different jurisdictions.
The event will discuss corporate engagement strategies in Asia and showcase two complementary engagement guides:
- The Climate Action 100+ Investor Guide for Engaging in Asia, updated and released by AIGCC with the support of Chronos Sustainability. This guide is designed to support investors in the ongoing dialogue with Asian companies and other key stakeholders as they bridge expectations between company practices and alignment with the Climate Action 100+ Net Zero Company Benchmark; and
- Officially launch Net Zero Engagement in Asia - A Guide to Shareholder Climate Resolutions, produced by ClientEarth together with AIGCC. This guide is intended to equip institutional investors to consider shareholder resolutions as part of effective engagement with companies on climate-related matters, an area in which there is increasing investor and regulatory interest. The contributors to the guide are corporate and climate law experts that include leaders and senior partners of top law firms from across Asia. They provide insights on the legal landscape for shareholder climate resolutions in 11 key Asian jurisdictions: Japan, South Korea, the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Both guides will be referenced in a panel discussion to identify effective means of engagement with Asian companies on climate issues, and where possible a discussion of regional nuances and applicability of various tools in different markets.
