Net zero commitments now famously cover over 90% of the global economy. Optimists see this as a sign of an unstoppable shift in the business world to a zero emissions future. Critics call greenwash, pointing to flaws in private sector implementation and companies’ possible overreliance on nature-based offsets.
Are forestry solutions a legitimate element of corporate net zero plans? How will upcoming regulations set expectations for the use of these offsets?
ClientEarth and the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law invite you to a panel discussion to explore these key challenges to corporate net zero pledges, including methodologies to assess the legitimacy of nature-based offsets, and the evolving legal implications for those corporations whose pledges do not stand up to scrutiny.
In collaboration with the Columbia Climate School.
