COP31 Side Event - After the Landslides: What Happens When Climate Adaptation Comes Too Late

When: Thursday 19 November, 8:30am – 9:30am

Location: WWF Pavilion, Blue Zone

What does it mean for communities facing immediate climate-related risks when the wheels of climate justice turn slowly? And how can strategic collaboration create lasting impact?

Join us for a special panel discussion focusing on adaptation and the power of the law to create real-world change. ClientEarth and Greenwatch will share insights from their collaborative work to secure justice for the Bududa upland community in Uganda, where many lives, homes and livelihoods were lost after heavy rains caused a landslide in December 2019. The panel will discuss: What happens when governments delay taking steps to prepare for climate disasters? How does this affect communities on the ground? And what is the role of the law in ensuring protection and redress?

This event is co-organised by ClientEarth and Greenwatch.

RSVP: this event is open to anyone with a Blue Zone pass at COP31. No registration is required.
