A letter by ClientEarth, together with a wide range of civil society organisations from the food, farming, environmental, animal welfare, development and health sectors, reminds EU decision-makers that the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is a central piece of the European Green Deal, but will fall short if structural policy changes are not implemented. The organisations demand that the Union act boldly to deliver a greener, fairer and healthier CAP, for the benefit of farmers and citizens. The letter comes ahead of a day-long meeting among the EU institutions, the so-called ‘super-trilogue’, to negotiate the three pieces of legislation that will determine the future of agriculture. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, 26 March 2021.
