Lorenzo joined the state aid team at ClientEarth in 2022 as a lawyer. Now he is part of the fair competition and public competition legal group, where his work focuses on aligning the state aid rules with the Green Deal objectives and aligning public finance with a green and just transition more broadly.

Experience

Before joining ClientEarth, Lorenzo qualified as an attorney-at-law (advocaat) at the Dutch bar law. He worked for 8 years in private practice at law firms Nysingh and Houthoff, where he specialized in EU competition and EU regulatory law. He also developed experience in international relations and international law during an internship at the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the international organizations in the Hague.

Education

Lorenzo studied law at Maastricht University, where he obtained an LL.B and LL.M in European Law School. He also studied a semester at the University of Aix-en-Provence, where he specialized in public international law and international criminal law.

The law is a powerful tool give direction to societies, especially in uncertain times such as in the current climate and environmental crisis. At ClientEarth, I have the exceptional opportunity to use the power of law to influence public financial flows in favor of a swift, fair and just green transition.

Lorenzo is working on
