Focus

Ioannis joined ClientEarth in March 2020 as a Lawyer in the Wildlife & Habitats Programme, based in Brussels. His work focuses on the promotion of an ambitious law and policy framework for biodiversity conservation and governance, both within the EU and internationally.

Experience

Before joining ClientEarth, Ioannis was a legal intern in the Development Law Service of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). There, he monitored compliance of national legislation to multilateral environmental agreements in the context of the Sustainable Wildlife Management Project and developed a legal note on gender mainstreaming in natural resources management. He has also worked in a corporate law firm, dealing with administrative & environmental litigation.

Education

He holds an LL.M degree in Public International law (Environmental Track) from the University of Utrecht and a Bachelors of Laws from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was admitted as a lawyer to the Greek Bar in 2020.

In an era when insatiable exploitation of natural resources had led to unparalleled encroachment into pristine ecosystems, transformational change is vital. ClientEarth has offered me the opportunity to harness the power of law to avert a potential biodiversity collapse and promote environmental justice for all.
