Simon is a partner at King and Wood Mallesons. Over more than two decades he has held a number of senior roles in their EU, Competition and Regulatory Department.
He has a broad range of experience in the environmental, infrastructure, energy and consumer goods sectors. Simon Holmes deals with major EU and UK Regulators including the European Commission and the CMA as well as key UK government departments and European Institutions such as the EU Parliament and European Court of Justice. His work spans state aid, mergers, public procurement, competition compliance, cartels, competition investigations and trade & customs law.
For over 10 years Simon has worked for the Waste and Resources Action Programme (“WRAP”) helping them improve the rate and quality of recycling in the UK. In particular he has obtained state aid clearances from the European Commission for WRAP’s recycling schemes and major recycling projects.
He has lectured at various academic and business institutions around the world including at the LSE.
