Francesca Mascha Klein joined the German office in Berlin in June 2020 as an environmental lawyer. At ClientEarth, she is committed to fight for climate and environmental protection. Her work focuses on accelerating the coal phase-out in Germany by legal means.

Experience

Previously, she worked as a research associate for the International League for Human Rights, at the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility, and for the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR). She was an intern for the Green Party in the German and European Parliament and at the Heinrich-Böll Foundation in Tel Aviv.
Mascha studied law in Berlin, Freiburg, Strasbourg, and Basel. She finalized her legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court Karlsruhe. Most recently, she worked as a solicitor and barrister in the field of criminal law.
As a volunteer, Mascha has supported a reforestation project in Brazil and the legal team of Seawatch.
