After working for the environment department of the German Marshall Fund in Washington DC, Julinka Doenhoff became an interview producer for Bloomberg TV and worked as a researcher and producer for Earth Report, a weekly environment series on BBC World. This included investigative programmes on illegal fishing, illegal logging, environmental corruption, whaling and un-natural disasters. She has also worked as a producer on a number of documentaries on Chanel 4.

For the last few years, she has been working as a portrait artist and has painted the portraits of Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu and the former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt. Julinka grew up in Kenya and Germany.

She studied Art History at Smith College in the US and then at Oxford University, where she received a Master of Philosophy degree in European Literature.
