Focus

Paloma joined the Madrid office in November 2017. She was our first staff member based in Spain.

She now works as part of our Global Public Affairs and Policy team and her work focuses on improving marine and land environments in the European Union.

Experience

Before she joined the Public Affairs and Policy Team, Paloma was part of the Sustainable Seafood team at ClientEarth. She participated in the creation of the Plataforma por la Sostenibilidad Pesquera (Platform for Sustainable Fisheries), a joint and collaborative workspace between different companies in the Spanish seafood supply chain. ClientEarth held the position of Secretariat of this Platform.

Before ClientEarth, Paloma worked to promote healthy oceans with fishers, retailers, consumers and local communities, administrations, scientists, civil servants and NGOs. She was the Team Project Coordinator for the design and the creation of a co-managed Marine Protected Area in Galicia, with Lonxanet Foundation. She also worked at Greenpeace, as part of the Seafood Markets campaign and has witnessed first-hand the need for transparency and traceability in this field.

Recently, she launched an online company selling 100% Galician and artisanal seafood, with the objective of providing customers with fully traceable and sustainable seafood.
