ClientEarth has been named Public Sector Team of the Year at the Legal 500 awards.
The work of our environmental legal teams was ranked alongside top law firms, government lawyers and FTSE-listed companies.
Now in operation for ten years, ClientEarth has grown to a staff of over 110, with offices across the globe.
James Thornton, ClientEarth CEO, said: “It’s wonderful to see ClientEarth’s work held up for praise by our peers. I am always amazed and humbled by the drive, vision and ability of our lawyers and it is great to have their successes recognised by the wider legal community.”
Legal 500 has been recognising excellence in the field for nearly three decades. It describes its work as “analysing the capabilities of law firms across the world, with a comprehensive research programme revised and updated every year to bring the most up-to-date vision of the global legal market. The Legal 500 assesses the strengths of law firms in over 100 jurisdictions.”
ClientEarth is also celebrating recognition from the clean transport sector. Our CEO James Thornton came in at number six in Green Fleet’s 100 Most Influential figures. The ranking reflects our ongoing work challenging the UK government to tackle illegal levels of air pollution.
GreenFleet says: “New to the top 10 is James Thornton, founding CEO of ClientEarth, the law firm that has successfully taken legal action against the government for its illegal poor air quality.
“This has spurred the government to take action and devise a Clean Air Strategy [which]… will undoubtedly shape the motoring, transport and fleet management sectors.”
