Carlos Shanka is a climate advocate and sustainability-enthusiast from the Canary Islands, Spain. During his time as a biology student at the University of Bristol, he has led different groups as the Chair of the Sustainability Network and the President of Bristol University Sustainability Team, introducing schemes to divest from unethical investments and embed sustainable development in the curriculum, among others.

He has proactively volunteered in several schemes to mitigate climate change and advocate for environmental welfare, consulting at student thinks tanks for the Bristol City Council, the Bristol Green Capital Partnership, or Froz, a Lebanese e-commerce platform.

Representing Spain at the 16th UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY16) and the University of Bristol at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, he is part of various international networks to foster action towards global issues.
