Legal consultant, Energy Systems, Asia
Sean is part of the Energy Systems, Asia team. His work focuses on the use of corporate and financial laws to promote climate ambition within the private sector in Asia. This involves working on legal strategies that embed the consideration of the climate into business and investment decision-making, whether that is through the avenue of director’s duties, climate disclosure obligations, or shareholder engagement. Sean joined ClientEarth in January 2022.
Before joining ClientEarth, Sean was a disputes resolution lawyer in one of the top law firms in Singapore. His work spanned from corporate and commercial disputes to advisory work on environmental-related issues. Sean is also an Adjunct Research Fellow for the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and is the incoming convenor for the Environmental Law module at NUS Faculty of Law.
Sean has a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from the National University of Singapore (2:1) and is qualified to practise as a lawyer in Singapore. He also holds a Master of Law (LLM) from University College London (Distinction), from which he graduated at the top of the Environmental Law and Policy specialism.
Whether we achieve a net zero economy hinges on whether we can narrow the gap between stated ambition and action. Using the power of the law, ClientEarth draws upon an amazingly talented and dedicated team to do just that. I am grateful to contribute to that work.
