Focus

Justine focuses on strategic litigation targeting gas infrastructure, steel, and large industrial installations in Europe. She also oversees strategic litigation in Bulgaria and Romania with local partners and manages the lawyer for Southern Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans.

Experience

Before joining ClientEarth, Justine lectured in European integration at the Freie Universität Berlin. She previously practiced as a barrister in Ireland, specialising in civil litigation and lecturing in EU law. Justine served on the board of directors of Marriage Equality for many years. This single-issue NGO led a successful referendum whereby Ireland became the first county in the world to establish a right to equal marriage by popular vote and enacted several successive law reforms in the same year.

Education

Justine holds a Bachelor of Laws from Trinity College Dublin and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics, where she studied European and International law. She was called to the bar of Ireland as a Barrister-at-Law in 2005 and to the bar of New York as an Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law in 2007.
