Focus

Gabriel focuses on English-language communications, program management and relations with funders.

Gabriel writes news reports on the work of ClientEarth’s Beijing office, explaining our work in the unique Chinese context to an international audience. He liaises with the international media, providing reporters who turn to ClientEarth with information on environmental law and policies in China.

Gabriel also helps to manage reporting to funders and write new funding proposals, and provides support in project management and research. He is currently helping to manage the UK Partnering for Accelerating Climate Transition’ China programme.

Experience

Gabriel moved to Beijing after receiving a Chinese government scholarship to get a master’s degree, and has spent around a decade in the city. During his time in China, he has worked mainly in academia and the NGO sector. Before joining ClientEarth he worked for China Development Brief, an independent platform for civil society in China. Prior to that he worked in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He reads and writes Chinese fluently.

Education

Gabriel received his BA in the University of East Anglia, and his MsC in the China Agricultural University. He has also studied the Chinese language in Tsinghua University, and engaged in doctoral-level research in Beijing Normal University.

China’s shift towards carbon neutrality and its environmental policies concern the entire world, and ClientEarth is best placed to have an impact in this field. It is fascinating and a great privilege to be able to be a part of this.
