Focus

Alice Bernard joined our Brussels office in July 2016. As part of the Chemicals Project team, Alice’s work focuses on matters relating to the implementation, enforcement and protection of laws relevant to chemicals management such as the REACH Regulation or the Pesticides legislation.

Experience

Prior to her current role she was an associate in White & Case LLP’s EU law practice where she mainly practiced competition law and also advised clients on REACH, Ecodesign and other product legislation.

Education

She graduated in European Law at University Paris II and holds an LL.M in European Law from Kings College London.  She qualified as a lawyer in France (admitted to the Paris Bar) and completed her training in Paris working for international law firms.

ClientEarth gives me the opportunity to practice law in a unique way: deploying my skills as a lawyer in pursuit of a more general public interest on a non-profit basis. The chemicals' regulatory framework is a particularly challenging area of law to work with as it raises complex issues: scientific uncertainty, data unavailability and the difficult dilemma of balancing benefits to society versus risks to public health and the environment.
