I am delighted to be joining an organisation with such an extraordinary impact for nature. Such an innovative use of law to stand up for the natural world on which both people and wildlife depends is unique within the UK and Europe.
Beth Thoren, Deputy CEO, Environmental Lawyers ClientEarth

Beth Thoren

Deputy CEO

Beth Thoren was appointed as ClientEarth’s Deputy CEO in September 2016, after four years at the RSPB as Director of Fundraising and Communications.

Beth grew up in Tokyo and did her first degree in engineering, followed by a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Beth was Director of Communications at Digital UK which led the switchover from analogue to digital transmission, and prior to that was Head of Digital Marketing at the BBC.

A passionate advocate for nature, Beth took a sabbatical to join the crew of Sea Shepherd on their campaign ship in the southern ocean before joining the RSPB. There, she transformed perceptions of the RSPB, ensuring that public and financial support for the organisation grew substantially, leading significant change within the organisation.

As Deputy CEO, Beth brings her wealth of experience in fundraising, communications, and business, along with her passion for the environment to ClientEarth’s management team in what is a crucial period for ClientEarth’s growth.
