Marta Ballesteros works on climate and energy issues in our Brussels office. She has 15 years of experience working on European Law, including 10 years in the WWF European Policy Office. Here she led the European Policy Biodiversity Programme, monitoring the implementation of EC environmental legislation by Member States across a broad range of EC Directives on nature conservation, water, environmental liability, and environmental impact assessment. She helped the WWF European network increase access to EC funds and influence legal decisions at the basis of EC funding programmes such as LIFE, Structural Funds. Her management experience includes serving as Deputy Director/Programme Director in the WWF EPO and as Head of the Save the Children Brussels office. She holds law degrees from the Autonoma University of Madrid, in Human Rights Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and in European Law and Institutions from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve. She has also practised law in Spain and advised the European Commission and the Council of Europe.
