ClientEarth comment: London Assembly urges Mayor to aim higher to improve London’s air quality

6 June 2011 | Press release

James Thornton, ClientEarth CEO, said: “We’ve been urging the Mayor to take stronger action on air quality for two years, so we salute the London Assembly’s call for the Mayor to aim higher.

“Bold action is needed to reduce the air pollution that contributes to 4,300 premature deaths every year in London."

“We haven’t yet seen plans which will ban the most polluting vehicles from inner London. This is essential if London is going to comply with environmental laws ahead of the Olympics.”
